Frankly that’s what Eurkos and I are hoping for – that he’ll be less Gundum-Angsty because he’s got nothing left to lose now that his Mother Ship has been destroyed.

I didn't mind the beginning, but it was probably just because I was going "hduhfhdh mythology" during it. I'm taking myth class right now, so I got pretty excited over that. Episode two has the opening, which I watched on youtube. The song is pretty, but the footage imho isn't too thrilling. I agree with Eurkos that Age may not know who he is (and with you on wtfing at people translating it as Eiji). I think he was just introducing himself in an odd way because he lacks social skills. Could be wrong though. I also like that he's upbeat, but do expect him to become angstier as the series goes on.
