Spring 2007 Anime

Everyone else is making this post, so why can’t I?

This isn’t so much one to review, I’m not good at that, but I figured I could make a list and see what other people think they’ll look at this season.

Claymore MangaClaymore - A mostly female cast of half-monsters that sacrificed their humanity to kill the full monsters, pretty much. It seems pretty dark based on things like, as the Claymore become more and more monster-like, they ask another to kill them, or will get sent on a suicide mission, and such. Despite what people are saying about it being typical shonen fare - I think they are sadly mistaken. It’s animated by MADHOUSE (Death Note, Chobits, Metropolis, Boogiepop, Gunslinger Girl), so should be pretty high in quality, too.

Nanoha StrikerSMagical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS - Season 3 of Nanoha, set 10 years after The start of A’s (and I believe 4 years after the epilogue in A’s). I’m a little worried with this one since everyone’s in the 18-20 range and I really don’t want them to still be acting like children, but I’m a huge Nanoha fan so I’m really anticipating this. I just wish she didn’t have that stupid side-ponytail. There’s an episode out that’s of dubious quality, so I’m waiting for a better one before I download it.

Hayate the Combat ButlerHayate the Combat Butler - Picking this up for title alone. We’ll see how long I stick with it. XD It’s about a kid who ends up working as a butler for yakuza to pay off a debt - he was sold to them. The young daughter of the family becomes interested in Hayate, who is of course interested in the older gorgeous maid. Hilarity surely ensues!

solaSola - Having trouble finding a summary for this one, but the art looks gorgeous, so let’s see what it turns out to be about, shall we? It looks like it’s gonna be a half-season type of series, with 12 episodes. And, the voice actress who plays Mai from Mai-HiME is in it. It also looks like the animation is being done by a fairly newer group called Nomad. I hope the quality looks as good as the art on it’s website!

XenoglossiaIdol Master Xenoglossia - based on some sort of sim where you train girls to be pop idols, but there is totally mecha involved somewhere, thus my interest. Something about the girls being in an Earth clean-up crew? And I’ve read it’s sort of similar to Mai-HiME/Mai Otome, and that a lot of the cast worked on those series’.

Darker Than BlackDarker than Black - reminds me a llittle of Heroes. Something about a Hell’s Gate appearing in Tokyo and people with superpowers begin popping up. Apparently they have little to no emotions. Should be interesting. It’s animated by BONES, that is usually hit with me, and rarely a miss.

Kaze No StigmaKaze no Stigma - Can’t find a summary for this one either, but check it out - schoolgirl with sword! I love schoolgirls with Swords. I hope she’s the main character and not that grumpy looking boy next to her. If it isn’t too much like Shakugan No Shana I’ll check this out. Speaking of which…

Shana MovieShakugan No Shana Movie - is set to come out this April. I have no idea if it’s in the theaters or a TV movie or when a DVD will be around, but I’ll be waiting for this for definite. Also it looks like there will be a season 2 in October! Whoo!

Also, certain parties may be interested to know that a second season of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu is supposed to be going on this spring as well. I just recently checked out season 1, so I’m hoping to blast through it ASAP so I can watch season 2.
